Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What is the difference between coaching and psychotherapy?

Coaching usually focuses on specific goals, professional challenges or personal development in the here and now. Psychotherapy is a more in-depth clinical treatment of clinically significant mental health conditions (e.g. depression or anxiety disorders) carried out by a licensed professional. I go into this in more detail further up in the text as well.

In which languages do the sessions take place?

I offer all sessions fluently in: German, English, Spanish and Dutch. You decide which language allows you to express your feelings and thoughts best.

Process & technology

What does an online session look like?

We meet in a secure, data-protection-compliant video room. To ensure GDPR-compliant data protection and thus safety from cyberattacks, I work with the provider “Threema”. This gives us end-to-end encrypted communication and video consultations without having to share your mobile number. Using it only requires a one-time declaration of consent. All you need is a stable internet connection, a microphone and a private place where you can talk undisturbed.

How do I book an appointment?

In my sessions I work with the GDPR-compliant messenger service “Threema”. That way you don’t need to worry about data security, and appointments can easily be booked with my QR code (click the button for the free introductory call). Using Threema is FREE for you. Alternatively, you are welcome to use the contact form and send me an email.

Is there a waiting list?

Because I work flexibly online, initial consultations are usually possible soon, within 1–2 weeks.

I’m in a crisis and urgently need help. What can I do?

In acute psychological and psychiatric emergencies, fast help and the right contacts are crucial!

For Germany (as well as Austria and Switzerland) the following applies: in the event of acute danger to yourself or others (risk of suicide, aggression, violence, …), please call the emergency number 112 IMMEDIATELY (Germany) or 144 (Austria/Switzerland).

Around the clock, there are crisis services, psychiatric emergency departments and telephone counseling services (142, 0800-1110111).

The children and youth helpline (116 111) offers counseling Monday to Saturday from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Anonymous and free of charge from landline and mobile.

Parents’ helpline (0800 111 0 550) available Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. On Tuesdays and Thursdays also until 7 p.m.

What do I do if I am abroad and urgently need help in a crisis?

Costs & insurance

Are the costs covered by health insurance?

Since every country has its own healthcare system, my services are aimed exclusively at self-paying clients, in an online setting and worldwide.

Specific points for expats

Why does online therapy make sense for expat children, teenagers and families?

Moving abroad often brings identity crises or family strain with it. Having a therapist and coach who speaks your “home language” and understands both the bureaucratic and the emotional hurdles of emigrating is often the key to success.

Which time zone do you work in?

I offer appointments optimized for different time zones (Europe, the Americas). When booking, the available times are shown directly in your local time.

Do you have any other questions? Feel free to send me an email. I will get back to you as soon as possible.
